Asian and Pacific Islander Artist Presenting Initiative
Second Year Call for Proposals Postmark Deadline is July 15, 2005. Notification will be made by September 1, 2005. Projects should take place between September, 2005 through June, 2006.
The JACCC launched the Asian and Pacific Islander Artist Presenting Initiative (API/2) in 2004 - 2005 to support the creative process of API performing and visual artists who are developing work for presentation to the public.
With initial three-year funding from The James Irvine Foundation, the goal of API/2 is to strengthen the artistic capacity of exemplary Asian and Pacific Islander artists, and to deepen public understanding and appreciation of API arts and cultural heritage.
To support these goals, the API/2 program will provide access to support mechanisms that are often not available to these working artists, such as rehearsal and studio space, production equipment, technical staff support, marketing and development of interpretive materials that help to deepen their connection to audiences, and networking opportunities.
This is the second year of the pilot three-year API/2 program, funded by the James Irvine Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
