FAQs
(1) Is this a granting program?
Yes, API/2 provides monetary grants and in-kind resources for artists for the development of creative work. However, unlike other granting programs, the API/2 program will also dedicate staff time and resources to work with the selected artists to determine the best way for API/2 to support their project. Most of the award packages are likely to include a combination of JACCC resources and modest monetary subsidies.

(2) I do not have a lot of experience having my work being presented. Is this detrimental to my application?
No, the API/2 program supports both emerging artists and veteran artists alike. The program is broad enough to be able to determine ways of supporting inexperienced artists who are just getting started and also experienced artists who are working on new creative work.

(3) I am an artist practicing an Asian/Pacific Islander artform, but I am not of Asian/Pacific Islander descent. Am I eligible to apply for API/2 support?
No. The API/2 program is specifically geared to support Asian/Pacific Islander artists, not necessarily Asian/Pacific Islander artforms. As an underrepresented minority in the arts, Asian/Pacific Islanders often have fewer opportunities to pursue and nurture their artistry. It is our goal to provide support that we hope may start to gain them greater recognition and artistic/presentational opportunities.

(4) Can API/2 fund international programs?
No. The API/2 program supports programs in the United States only and we do not accept inquiries from overseas applicants.

(5) Where does my work have to be presented to be eligible for API/2 support?
Your work must be presented in an established venue anywhere in the United States.

(6) Who is on the review panel that allocates the grants?
The API/2 Advisory Panel consists of three JACCC staff experts in API artists and cultural work: JACCC's President and C.E.O., the Managing Director for Programs, and the API/2 Project Coordinator, as well as local community members and artists.
