Isamu Noguchi Plaza

Isamu Noguchi Plaza

JACCC Plaza was designed by world-famous sculptor and designer, Isamu Noguchi, a native of Los Angeles. The Plaza is the first and only public installation created by Noguchi in his hometown. The one-acre open area was designed by Noguchi as a valuable open space, hosting such events as the annual Children’s Day Celebration, Nisei Week Japanese Festival, the Hanamatsuri celebration of Buddha’s birth, an Interfaith Memorial for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, an annual Taiko Gathering, and numerous food festivals and performances, both contemporary and traditional. The space features features his sculpture, untitled, “To the Issei,” and is one of only two Isamu Noguchi originals in Southern California.
