The Nikkei Youth Cultural Heritage Program (NYCHP), in cooperation with the Kobe YMCA Language Program (Hyogo Prefecture, Japan), is designed for participants to gain a better understanding of their cultural heritage and discover Japan in a unique and exciting way.
For this program, the JACCC is collaborating with the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC), the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Washington, and the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii to offer up to five participants from each Cultural Center an opportunity to participate in this educational and cultural experience.
This year, the NYCHP will incorporate a mandatory four-day pre-trip tour to Japan. The purpose of the tour is to introduce students to important historical and cultural assets in Japan so that they can increase and deepen their knowledge and interest during their month stay in Kobe. Highlights of the pre-tour will include Tokyo, Hiroshima’s Peace Park and Museum, Miyajima, and Kyoto, as well as local delicacies and regional sites.
Please submit applications to the JCCCNC no later than Friday, March 11, 2011.
The deadline has been extended to Friday, April 15th at 5pm.
We hope that this extension will allow everyone time to consider their participation in the program this year.
