"Circled With Folks" Concert

Hong Kong artists Ruth Ng, Brenda Lo, and Albert Lui are coming to town to meet with L.A. fans for the Herald Community Center Charitable Concert, September 30 and October 1. They will take us back in time to scores of memorable folk oldies such as The Circle Game, California Dreaming, Country Roads, Try To Remember, and Leaving On A Jet Plane.

This is a charitable concert. All donations will be used for the HCC community services.

Lyric Opera - Smokin' Hot Opera!

Verdi, Mozart, & Wagner - Three of the bigges names in opera. Lyric Opera of Los Angeles presents comedic works by all three this season at the Aratani Japan America Theatre.

As part of their mission to provide affordable, uncommon fair for audiences throughout Southern California, Lyric Opera of Los Angeles will begin their 2006/2007 season with Giuseppe Verdi's "Un Giorno di Regno" (King for a Day) between October 6th and 15th for six (6) perfoprmances, and will return in April 2007 for a presentation of Wagner's "Das Liebesverbot."

Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team

Quest TM is a transgender beauty pageant that encourages the development and advancement of transgenders and celebrates the uniqueness and diversity of the transgender community. What makes this pageant truly special is that the transgender women contestans, represent community-based organizations helping transgenders.

Delegates from previous pageants have represented agencies synonymous with excellence like the Asian Pacific Islander Coalition on HIV/AIDS of New York, Benestar Human Services, The Center - Orange County, Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, the LA Gay and Lesbian Center, Minority AIDS Project, and the Can Ness Prevention Division.

"Stars of Tomorrow...giving back today!"
Dancers Responding to AIDS

Dancers Responding to AIDS (DRA) presents a fundraising event,  " Stars of Tomorrow...giving back today!" sponsored by Capezio, with performances by outstanding dance companies, studios, and professionals in the Los Angeles area. From ballet and contemporary to hip hop and tap, this show will have it all! Previous "Stars of Tomorrow...giving back today!" events have taken place in New York City, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Tacoma, and Los Angeles.

DRA is a fundraising program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the nation's leading industry-based AIDS fundraising and grant-making organization. The funds raised are distributed to seven programs of The Actor's Fund of America and as grants to over 487 AIDS and family service organizations across the United States. Since its founding in 1988, BC/EFA has raised over $100 million for critically needed services for people with HIV/AIDS.

The art of rhythm tap dance, the freedom of live jazz music and percussion and original repertoire, make an evening with Rhapsody In Taps a unique visual and musical event.

 

Join us as we celebrate the company’s 25 years of tap performances, dance collaborations and innovation in Los Angeles.  The program will premiere the “Klezmer/Tap Project,” “Laughing With Tears,” featuring composer/Klezmer clarinet virtuoso, Leo Chelyapov. Repertoire highlights spanning the company’s history include: the 2005 Lester Horton Award winning, “Stroke of the Oarsmen,” (Linda Sohl-Ellison) with an original score by percussionist Monti Ellison, “Dark Eyes,” “Tribute to Gregory Hines,” the “Kecak” and other solo improvisations by “fast feet” Bob Carroll.
