The Plaza was designed by world-famous sculptor and designer Isamu Noguchi, a native of Los Angeles. The one-acre open area was added to the overall JACCC design at Noguchi's suggestion and is a valuable open space, hosting such annual events asChildren's Day Celebration, the Hanamatsuri celebration of Buddha's birth, a rousing Taiko gathering and performances, Movies on the Plaza Film Series, and other community events.
